It will allow websites to show DRM-protected video content in Firefox without the use of NPAPI plugins. Widevine support is an alternative solution for streaming services that currently rely on Silverlight for playback of DRM-protected video content. Widevine Content Decryption Modules (CDMs) are how streaming services protect content using HTML5 video to web browsers without relying on an NPAPI plugin like Flash or Silverlight. In Electron you can use the Widevine CDM library shipped with Chrome browser. The package is currently deprecated, and.But a quick look at that package’s Github repo quickly shoots down any hopes for a solution: Someone else at the that thread makes the recommendation to look at the NPM package electron-widevinecdm. Widevine (and Digital Rights Management) are not even mentioned in the current list of official guides over at the Electron Github repo. The guide that comment links to is not even available. You should try this guide to enable Widevine in Electron and report back whether or not you got it working …it looks like Electron doesn’t support Widevine CDM that’s required by the Web Playback SDK. In Spotify Github issue #7, dated January 2018 and titled Web Playback SDK support with Electron, hughrawlinson makes the following comment: Some light at the end of the rabbit hole. ![]() ![]() So if serving DRM’d content is not something related to Cookies or CSPs, what to do? The Real McGuffinĪhhh yes. But based on the steps I have taken, I don't believe I have done what you have suggested is the reason why I am still having problems as you will see the proof for yourself.Missing same-site parameter on Spotify third-party cookies. I understand your theory about why I may be having problems with the browser, so I have done the next best thing to show exactly how I have followed your instructions and the outcome from that. Therefore, I am not sure how I can possibly be mismatching the dll file in the appropriate ZP 圆4 folder. There was not even an x86 sub-directory in my Chrome folder, because I clearly installed Chrome 64-bit version. The only widewine.dll file in the Chrome directory was in a 圆4 subdirectory. I am using ZP on a 圆4 machine running Win 10 Pro, and running Chrome 圆4 bit version. I have gone through this process for the past 2 weeks and still am not able to get past the browser compatibility problem with this single program.Īs you will see in the detailed video, I have taken all the steps that you recommended. Please point out any mistakes that you see in the video from the steps that I have taken.
